PRESTOSPORTS/MBWA MEN'S PLAYER OF THE
WEEK
Antoine Agudio Approaches Hofstra's All-Time Scoring Mark
WHITE PLAINS, NY (25 February 2008) - For the third time this
season,
Hofstra University's Antoine Agudio (Huntington Station,
NY/Walt Whitman) earns PrestoSports/Met Basketball Writers
Association Player of the Week honors.
The highly decorated senior guard moved even closer to the Hofstra
(11-16 overall, 7-9 Colonial Athletic Association) career scoring
record with 51 combined points in two games last week. He had 27
points in the Pride's 81-67 win over Towson, including two
three-pointers and an assist in a pivotal 10-0 run after Towson
took its only lead of the second half. He followed up with 24
points in the Pride's 81-63 road win at Iona in the O'Reilly ESPNU
Bracketbusters contest. He now has recorded 2,212 points in his
career - just ten shy of the school's scoring record. That record
has stood for 43 years, since Steve Nisenson set the mark from
1962-65. Agudio has been in double figures in 59 of his last 60
games, making the record very likely to fall at Delaware on
Wednesday.

About the PrestoSports/MBWA Weekly Player of the Week
Award
Founded for the 2004-05 season, the Player of the Week
Award is granted on a weekly basis by the New York Area
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. Each week, each of the
nearly 75 schools that play college basketball in the Tri-state
area have the ability to nominate one male and one female
student-athlete, based upon their on-court accomplishments over the
previous seven days. An esteemed panel of eight media members votes
to select from the nominations the most outstanding player. Any
player who receives any votes, but are not named the Player of the
Week, are then named to the Honor Roll.
