WEEK
Richard Jean-Baptiste from Brooklyn College Earns Honor
WHITE PLAINS, NY (21 January 2008) - Brooklyn College swept
three
games last week, largely due to the play of this week's
PrestoSports/Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week
Richard Jean-Baptiste (Queens, NY/St. John's
Prep).
Brooklyn College (12-4 overall, 6-2 CUNYAC) defeated Berkeley
College 89-63 before winning at Lehman 77-70 and at City Tech
99-80.
Jean-Baptiste only played in two of the team's contests, recording
56 points and 22 rebounds in the process. Against Lehman, the 6'4"
sophomore poured in 26 points with 12 rebounds and three assists.
Three nights later, he added 30 points and ten rebounds as the
Bridges earned two critical conference road victories.

About the PrestoSports/MBWA Weekly Player of the Week
Award
Founded for the 2004-05 season, the Player of the Week
Award is granted on a weekly basis by the New York Area
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. Each week, each of the
nearly 75 schools that play college basketball in the Tri-state
area have the ability to nominate one male and one female
student-athlete, based upon their on-court accomplishments over the
previous seven days. An esteemed panel of eight media members votes
to select from the nominations the most outstanding player. Any
player who receives any votes, but are not named the Player of the
Week, are then named to the Honor Roll.
