GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY PARTNERS WITH PRESTOSPORTS FOR IMAGINATIVE NEW ATHLETICS WEB SITE
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Gallaudet University, the world leader in undergraduate liberal arts education, career development and graduate programs for deaf, hard of hearing and hearing students, has partnered with PrestoSports to create web solutions for its department of athletics. A member of NCAA Division III located in Washington, D.C., Gallaudet boasts programs in 14 varsity sports.
Gallaudet University Sports Information Director Oscar Ocuto and members of the PrestoSports team have met for initial brainstorming sessions and will soon begin the site design process. Gallaudet athletics leaders will also designate a new dot com name for the innovative new department web site.
"We're excited to add another prestigious university to our growing list of clients, especially since they're located right in our backyard," PrestoSports Vice President Patrick Summers said. "With the PrestoSports experience in athletics administration and the latest web tools, Gallaudet will receive a site that reflects the excitement surrounding the college's athletic department. There are some fantastic people involved with Bison athletics and we're thrilled to help put their ideas into action with a unique site."
Gallaudet fields men's teams in baseball, basketball, football, track, soccer, swimming and tennis. The women's teams compete in basketball, track, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and a conference championship caliber program in volleyball. Most of the Bison teams compete in the Capital Athletic Conference, another new PrestoSports client that launched its site at www.cacsports.com earlier this month.
This fall, the Bison will make a return to the NCAA Division III gridiron. Gallaudet football is credited with the invention of the huddle. In 1894, quarterback Paul Hubbard devised the gathering behind the line of scrimmage to keep other teams from stealing his hand signals at the line of scrimmage.
