WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE PARTNERS WITH PRESTOSPORTS FOR ATHLETICS WEB SITE
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a national leader in student engagement and NCAA Division III member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), has partnered with PrestoSports for an innovative new athletics web site. Members of the WPI administrative team and PrestoSports have embarked on the site design process.
"WPI is excited to partner with PrestoSports to take our web site to another level," said WPI Director of Athletics Dana Harmon. "We are looking forward to sharing the successes of our student-athletes with the world through a new state-of-the-art web site."
WPI's athletics department features 20 varsity sports. The sports and recreation programs have the same goals as our academic programs: helping its students prepare for life and get the most out of their education. The Engineers field men's teams in baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, football, soccer, swimming & diving, track & field and wrestling. The women compete in basketball, crew, cross country, field hockey, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, track & field and volleyball.
"We're excited to work with WPI on its new web site. WPI has a proud athletics history and it's humbling that schools like this continue to partner with our company," PrestoSports Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Gonzales said. "PrestoSports is looking forward to applying its knowledge in athletics and web development to help WPI athletics reach its goals."
WPI has captured the Worcester College Cup, emblematic of the most successful varsity athletics program among the nine participating colleges in Worcester County, in three of the last four years. This cup is awarded annually to the college with the highest aggregate varsity sports winning percentage by the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. WPI has captured the cup for athletics excellence in the 2003-2004, 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 academic years.
WPI is ranked No. 64 among all national, doctoral universities by U.S. News & World Report. It topped the student/faculty interaction survey in the National Survey of Student Engagement and has been ranked ninth by The Princeton Review for "best career prospects" for graduates of its MBA program. WPI's 18 academic departments offer more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in science, engineering, technology, management, the social sciences, and the humanities and arts, leading to the B.S., M.S., M.E., MBA and Ph.D.
WPI marks the first member of the NEWMAC to partner with PrestoSports. It joins Assumption College among Worcester area schools working with PrestoSports and becomes the sixth institution in Massachusetts (American International College, Assumption College, Bridgewater State, Elms College, Stonehill College and Williams College) to join the PrestoSports network of college athletics web sites. PrestoSports also has partnered for the conference web sites of five athletics conferences based in Massachusetts (Atlantic Hockey, ECAC, MASCAC, NEWMAC, Northeast-10).
