ONE OF NATION'S PREMIERE INSTITUTIONS PARTNERS WITH PRESTOSPORTS, CALTECH ATHLETICS JOINS GROWING NETWORK

ROCKVILLE, Md. - The California Institute of Technology, a world-class university offering NCAA Division III athletics as a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, has joined the PrestoSports network. Members of the Caltech athletics administration and PrestoSports have embarked on a web site design process.

"The athletics, physical education and recreation programs at Caltech are very dynamic and complex. We not only offer our traditional undergraduate population 17 NCAA Division III intercollegiate programs and physical education, we also serve the greater Caltech Community which includes a large and diverse group made up of graduate students, post doctoral fellows, faculty and staff along with the employees of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory," commented Wendell Jack, Caltech's Director of Athletics. "As we looked at the options for a new website, it was clear that PrestoSports offers the ideal approach to providing us with what we want and need. The work they have done with the SCIAC website clearly demonstrates that they were the right fit for us and we are very excited to preparing to go live with our new site."

Caltech's department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation features intercollegiate athletics opportunities in baseball, men's and women's basketball, cross country, fencing, men's soccer, swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, track & field, women's volleyball and men's and women's water polo. Its club and intramural sports program are recognized among the best and all undergraduate students are required to complete physical education courses in order to graduate.

"The administration and coaches at Caltech are committed to providing the best experience for their student body," PrestoSports Vice President Patrick Summers said. "They have an innovative vision for their new site and we look forward to helping shine the light on another special part of Caltech. We're also excited to help meet the challenges of another member of the SCIAC."

Caltech marks the third member of the SCIAC to join the PrestoSports network. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Whittier College will launch sites later this month and the SCIAC site is part of the growing network which features complete integration into d3scoreboard and many NCAA Division III sports media sites.

In the 2008 U.S. News & World Report survey of the nation's top universities, Caltech ranked tied for fifth with the University of Pennsylvania and just behind No. 4 Stanford.

Caltech's undergraduate student body numbers under 1,000 students. Thirty-one Caltech alumni and faculty have received the Nobel Prize. Its mission focuses on expanding human knowledge and benefiting society through research integrated with education. Caltech investigates the most challenging, fundamental problems in science and technology in a singularly collegial, interdisciplinary atmosphere, while educating outstanding students to become creative members of society.
