PRESTOSPORTS VICE PRESIDENT FOR SALES AND MARKETING CHRIS GONZALES STEPS DOWN
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Chris Gonzales, the Vice President for Sales and Marketing at PrestoSports, has resigned due to personal reasons. Gonzales, instrumental in the company's growth since joining the athletics Internet solution provider in 2005, will remain with PrestoSports in a variety of capacities.
"We are sad to see him go, but respect his decision. Chris has played a huge role in the growth of our company and we thank him for it," PrestoSports Vice President Patrick Summers said. "He's used his expertise to open our company up to a national market. We support him, both as a member of our team and as a friend as he takes his life and career in new directions."
PrestoSports, a leading provider of athletic content management software to colleges and conference offices, experienced unprecedented growth under Gonzales' sales leadership. Since Gonzales has joined the company, PrestoSports gained a national presence, spreading beyond our Mid-Atlantic and New England base into areas such as signing schools and conferences in Arizona, California and, Texas and in the Mid-Atlantic states.
Gonzales has withdrawn from all day-to-day duties with the company, though he will remain on as a consultant.
"My brief time at PrestoSports was filled with excitement and growth, both professionally and personally," Gonzales said. "I feel confidant that the company is in fantastic shape, and will continue to grow exponentially. I appreciate everything that the entire staff has done to support me in this stressful time in my life."
A native of the New York City area, Gonzales came to PrestoSports from Sports Systems Services, Inc. For nine years, he helped the Fort Lee, N.J.-based company transition from a fax broadcast company into a multi-faceted sports technology company. Along the way, he developed contacts in college and amateur athletics, motor sports, professional hockey, soccer, basketball, tennis and rodeo.
No stranger to athletic administration, the 1993 Hobart College graduate worked in athletic administration at Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute and Manhattanville (N.Y.) College. Gonzales remains active in college athletics, administering Player of the Week awards for the in the New York Area Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, as the publicist for Provident Bank Pride of Maryland Basketball tournament and as a statistician for many schools in the greater New York City and Washington, DC, areas.
