LE MOYNE USES VIDEO INTRODUCTION TO NEW ATHLETICS LOGO ON SPLASH PAGE OF WEB SITE
SYRACUSE, NY - Le Moyne College's new - and first official athletics - brand identity was unveiled on Tuesday morning at the conclusion of the annual Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony. The event, which was attended by student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff, concluded with the unveiling of the new primary Le Moyne Dolphins logo. Now, the logo is available to the rest of the world through video on the Le Moyne web site www.lemoynedolphins.com.
Le Moyne will utilize its new logo in a redesigned web site through PrestoSports later this summer.
The primary Le Moyne Athletics logo features a sleek dolphin above
the words "Le Moyne Dolphins." Secondary marks were also unveiled
that featured various combinations of the primary logo. These marks
include a stand-alone dolphin, a block "L" and various word marks
such as Le Moyne, Dolphins and ‘Phins.
"As competition continues to grow in the communication-saturated
world of intercollegiate athletics, it has become increasingly
necessary to develop a consistent identity," says Matt Bassett,
Director of Athletics. "An important component of advancing a
regional and national image of athletic excellence for Le Moyne
will be further enabled by this new consistent visual image. Our
new athletics logo will help us to be instantly recognized by all
of our key stakeholders in our written, graphic, apparel, and
marketing applications."
The services of Old Hat
Creative of Norman, OK, were enlisted to create the new
identity. Old Hat Creative is one of the industry's premier
designers working with the nation's preeminent athletic
departments, including North Carolina, Oklahoma, Notre Dame,
Florida State, Georgetown, Syracuse, Stanford and Michigan.
Le Moyne, which instituted athletics in 1947, had never had an
official athletics logo. Over the years, a number of different
designs had been used, but no single logo identity was ever
adopted.
The official Le Moyne colors of green and gold remain, although
the shade of green has been darkened and the gold brightened to
provider great consistency and flexibility with uniforms and
apparel. Additionally, black will be incorporated as a secondary
color. Le Moyne green will be PMS 3435 while the gold will be PMS
102.
The new marks are scheduled to roll out through the summer months
on all physical structures as well as on uniforms, athletic apparel
and a newly redesigned website.
