PRESTOSPORTS PARTNERS WITH WASHINGTON
& LEE UNIVERSITY
ODAC member launches new site at www.generalssports.com
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Washington & Lee University, an NCAA Division III member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference located in Lexington, Va. has partnered with PrestoSports to launch a new athletics web site. The new home for the Generals recently launched at www.generalssports.com.
"We're excited to work with Washington & Lee on its athletics web site," says PrestoSports COO Patrick B. Summers. "Each institution brings its own unique mission to its athletics web site. We're pleased W&L has chosen PrestoSports to help achieve its goals."
Washington & Lee's new site launched with a unique new design and a number of innovative features which put athletics administrators in complete control of the look of and content within the web site. Some of the distinctive features implemented on generalssports.com include video clips, a headlines area with 10 different stories cycling through and plenty of content for fans of all 23 Generals sports.
"PrestoSports has proven to be a leader in the web content management and Washington and Lee is so excited about partnering with them for our University's athletics website," said W&L Sports Information Director Brian Laubscher. "We believe that this relationship will serve to enhance the coverage of the fine teams and athletes that don the Blue & White."
PrestoSports' services and technology will allow Washington & Lee fans, alums and media to quickly find information about the school's teams. Now part of the PrestoSports Network, scores entered into the Generals' web site through traditional or mobile entry systems will immediately update the web site's schedules, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference schedules, and national media sites such as d3football, d3hoops, d3soccer, d3baseball and laxmagazine.com.
Washington and Lee University provides its students with a unique athletic program that allows them to pursue athletic excellence without sacrificing their educational experience. W&L offers 23 varsity sports, 12 for men and 11 for women. All sports compete at the NCAA Division III level and most participate in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Over the years, W&L teams and students have been impressive on and off the playing fields. Accomplishments include 49 CoSIDA Academic All-America honorees, 30 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships and two national championships.
Founded in 1749, Washington and Lee University is named for two of the most influential men in American history: George Washington, whose generous endowment of $20,000 in 1796 helped the fledgling school (then known as Liberty Hall Academy) survive, and Robert E. Lee, whose presidency and innovative leadership brought the University into the national limelight. Perhaps the most distinguishing characteristic of the University is its student run Honor System, and the environment that it creates on campus and in Lexington. Students at W&L enjoy unparalleled academic and social freedom. Undergraduates typically schedule their own final examinations, all students take their exams unsupervised, personal property is generally safe on campus, most University buildings remain open 24 hours per day, and a student's word is accepted and respected both on campus and in the community.
