PRESTOSPORTS/PRIDE OF MARYLAND COACH OF THE YEAR

Award Named in Honor of Former McDaniel Head Coach Bob Flynn

Hood's Tom Dickman Wins Inaugural Award

ROCKVILLE, MD (3 April 2007) - Hood College head men's basketball coach Tom Dickman has been named the inaugural Bob Flynn Memorial Pride of Maryland Coach of the Year. The award, presented by PrestoSports, was voted on by media members across the state of Maryland.

In just the fourth year of the program's existence, Dickman led the team to a 21-8 overall record, including a 12-4 mark in their inaugural season in the Capital Athletic Conference. The team won the CAC regular season championship, and fell to Catholic University in the CAC Tournament title game 85-75. The Blazers then earned an At-Large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to Hampden-Sydney 68-65.

He was also rewarded for his tireless efforts by his peers who chose him as CAC Coach of the Year. Additionally, D3Hoops.com named him Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.

In his four years at Hood, Dickman has compiled an overall record of 60-43. Hood played as an independent for its first three years prior to joining the CAC for the 2006-07 season.

The Coach of the Year Award is named in honor of former McDaniel College head coach Bob Flynn. Coach Flynn passed away tragically in January of 2007. Flynn had guided the Green Terror to a 7-6 start in 2006-07, including a 4-3 mark in Centennial Conference play, after taking over the program last season. The start was the best in the team's history since 1986-87.
