PrestoSports Announces Partnership with German Football League

Founded in 1979, the American Football Verband Deutschland (AFVD) is the largest association for American-style Football in Europe, with nearly 50% of all football players in Europe competing within their borders. With 16 teams at the top level in the Erima GFL, divided into north and south, 16 teams in the GFL 2 and over 400 more teams across Germany, the sport is growing and accessible to a sports’ hungry population. The continued growth of the two top leagues led them to seek a stats solution that enabled the ability to incorporate their strong history as they move forward.

“We’ve been keeping league stats since 2002,” says Carsten Dalkowski, League Chairman. “It was important that we were able to maintain our data from previous years going forward. That is the next step for us. With life stats and all these possible things that you can do with data, we want to engage more with our fans.”

PrestoSports technology and broad experience made them the best choices for the GFL. “Our stats guys felt at home right away, it wasn’t a huge jump.” That was important: ultimately they plan to open the program up beyond the two leagues in Germany but to every other team in Germany.

The 2023 GFL season kicks off on the 20th of May and ends with the crowning of the league champion in the Bowl game on the 14th of October.
