General Instructions For PrestoSports Stats Entry

PrestoSports Stats Entry is a browser-based app that can be used in both an online and offline mode.

When using the app for the first time, your browser will give a message similar to this: “The page at URL.prestosports.com is asking to store data in your browser”. You must click “Allow” on this message or else offline mode will not work, meaning the data will not get stored in your browser when there is not an internet connection available.

To begin, use any of the Internet browser versions listed below.
* Suggested browser is Google Chrome version 10 and up

Browser’s Supported by PrestoSports Stats Entry

  • Google Chrome Version 10 and up
  • Mozilla Firefox Version 3.5 and up
  • Safari Version 4 and up
  • Opera Version 10.6 and up
  • Internet Explorer Version 9 and up
  • (Internet Explorer Version 8 can stat games but does not support an offline mode)
  • iOS Version 3.2 and up
  • Androis Version 2.1 and up
  • Opera Mobile Version 11 and up

To begin using PrestoSports Stats Entry

This is a browser-based app. Do not click on your browser’s back and forward button to change between screens on the app. This will cause you to log out from the app and move to a different website.

Should you do this by mistake, you will need to log back into the app and the game will load at the last play entered.

  1. Sign in to use PrestoSports Stats Entry using the same email account and password that you use to sign into the back end of your website or Game day. You must be using a supported browser version from above.
  2. If you are a new PrestoSports user, email support@prestosports.com to have an account to created for you
  3. Select the season you want to enter stats for
  4. Select the schedule tab
  5. Select the date of the game that you want to enter stats for
  6. Click Launch Stats Entry in the upper right corner

Game Setup:

To start any game using PresoSports Stats Entry, you must enter some basic information about the event before you can begin entering plays. Some of this information will be filled out already, and some needs to be done manually like:

  • The location of the contest
  • Each team’s starters
  • Each team’s starting goalkeeper

You can now begin to add plays.

Click on the Add Play button at the top of the app to see the play entry buttons. You can control the clock by clicking it or using the space bar or F6 to start and stop the clock.

*The app automatically sets the keystroke for the home and visitor team. The auto setting is the first letter of each team name. You can change this setting to anything you want in the Setup tab.

Halftime

  1. At the end of the first half, click on Game Ctrl and then click on End Period
  2. To begin the second half, click on Game Ctrl and then Wrap Up. This will give you the option to set the players on the field for the second half, print the box score and play by play report and start the second period.

Ending a Game

  1. To end a game click on Game Ctrl and then click on End Period
  2. To finalize a Game, click on Game Ctrl and then click on Wrap Up
  3. The first step is to confirm the score of the game. If the score is wrong, you can edit goal-scoring plays.
  4. From this menu, you also have the option to print box scores and play by play reports
  5. Add in weather, attendance, game duration and more in the Setup screen
  6. Update the goalie records for each team’s goalie
  7. Finally, update the team records. (This step will mark this game as “Final” in the PrestoSports Network)

Overtime

To start an overtime period, click on Game Ctrl at the end of the second half

  1. Use the Wrap Up menu to set the players on the field for Overtime. You also have the option to print box score and play by play reports
  2. When you are ready to start overtime, click “Start Next Period” and choose “OT”

Follow this same process for a second overtime period or to start a shootout.

Offline Mode

To use PrestoSports Stats Entry app in offline mode without internet access, you need to load the game to the app while you still have internet access. Follow these steps to do this:

  1. Sign in to use PrestoSports Stats Entry using the same email account and password that you use to sign into the back end of your website or Game day. You must be using a supported browser version from above.
  2. If you are a new PrestoSports user, email support@prestosports.com to have an account to created for you
  3. Select the season you want to enter stats for
  4. Select the schedule tab
  5. Select the date of the game that you want to enter stats for
  6. Click Launch Stats Entry in the upper right corner

After you have completed these steps, without turning off or hibernating your computer, close your laptop lid or tablet and walk over to the game. Do not exit out of your internet browser. Once you are at the game, open up your laptop or tablet and maximize the browser you set up the game in while you still had internet access.

You will see a screen where you can enter basic information such as the location, starting lineups and goalies.

Stat the game as you normal would, including wrapping up the game and updating team and goalie records.

Close the laptop or tablet and walk back to the office. Do not exit out of your internet browser.

Once you have regained internet access, the app will automatically connect to the PrestoSports Network and finalize the game. This process includes creating the packed file, xml box score and marking the score as Final in the Network. This process can take up to 2 minutes depending on your internet connection.

Live Stats

  • For clients who have purchased PrestoSports Prime Time for their live stats vieer, if you are using the stats entry app while connected to the internet,  the app will automatically update the Network and your live stats. The only setup you need to do is publish your live stats link in game day and let the power of the Network take care of the rest.
  • If you are using another live stat partner you will need to set up the stat partner in the live stats tab of game day
